Bio/Research

Mr. Mansel Griffiths, born in 1949 in UK, is the director and professor of Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety located in the University of Guelph, a renowned university in Agriculture and Food Science in the Northern America.

Professor Griffiths received his PhD in Microbiology from Leicester in 1975.

Dr. Griffiths served on Scotland NSERC/DFO Chair in Dairy Microbiology since 1990 and the current position since 2001. His main research areas involves in food safety such as food borne microorganisms detection, bioluminescence, bacteriophage, microbial physiology, microbial food ecology. His current interest is the development of detection methods for food borne microorganisms.

Professor Griffiths is very active in the food science world. He served as editor in many international journals such as Journal of Food Science, Journal of Food Protection, International Journal of Food Microbiology, Journal of Dairy Science, Food Research International, American Dairy Science Association, American Society for Microbiology and Canadian Institute of Food Technology.
