Bio/Research

Dr. Parnaby’s primary interest is in the sociology of risk and risk discourse as they relate to issues of expertise, social control, and governance. His most recent publications have looked at how discourses of risk are implicated in the exercising of control with respect to crime prevention through environmental design and financial planning. In addition, Parnaby also researches and writes in the areas of social constructionism, social deviance, and policing.
