Bio/Research

Terry Crowley's current research concentrates on dynamic interactions between town and countryside in Ontario during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Focusing on farm machinery businesses in Brantford and Smith Falls, it examines industrial development in small centres and its relationship to farming communities nationally and internationally. As a contribution to labour, business, and rural history, the fruits of this research are expected to challenge current assumptions about Ontario's economic development and the evolution of rural communities.
