Dr. Elsayed’s research examines manufacturing and processing of light metals and alloys for the automotive and aerospace industries, with a focus on using fundamental concepts and experimental approaches to solve industry-related problems. His previous research projects have included improving the recyclability of light alloys and reducing the presence of defects that affect material performance.
Elsayed is involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching in materials, mechanics and manufacturing. He also sits on committees within the School of Engineering regarding teaching, research, and graduate training, and is involved with multiple technical societies related to materials science and engineering.
