Bio/Research

Prof. Benjamin M. Bohrer grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio, on his family’s livestock and crop farm. He received his PhD in animal sciences from the University of Illinois in 2016 and joined the Department of Food Science at the University of Guelph that same year.

An expert in the fields of meat science and muscle biology, Bohrer’s work has been published in a variety of scientific journals and has received recognition from the American Meat Science Association as well as the American Society of Animal Science.

His work aims to improve the efficiency of live animals and the eating experience of meat products through the evaluation of the quality, yield and shelf-life of fresh and further-processed beef and pork products.
