The bacterial cell wall is essential for bacterial viability, acting as a protective barrier against environmental stresses, while governing important biological process such as cell shape and division. Dr. Myers’ research focuses on the cell wall, particularly in the context of antimicrobial resistance.
The Myers lab integrates biochemical, structural, molecular and genetic approaches to investigate poorly understood aspects of bacterial cell wall biology that can provide new directions for antimicrobial development.
