Bio/Research

The focus of Dr. James' research program is comparative epilepsy, primarily using electroencephalography, along with translational genetics of neurologic disease, and neuroimaging. Her projects examine details of canine electroencephalography (EEG) and epilepsy syndromes, with the specific goal of optimizing the canine EEG technique and to use EEG in the phenotypic definition of canine epilepsies for investigation into their causes and to improve their treatment. James is particularly interested in the comparative aspect - how might understanding of canine epilepsies help humans living with epilepsy and vice versa?
