Dr. Carl is the area coordinator for sculpture in the undergraduate program. He is known for his provocative use of unconventional materials, methods and strategies, and for his sensitivity to social politics. Aside from his BFA and MFA, his educational background includes a BA in East Asian Studies from McGill University in Montreal, and degrees from the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing, China. He has previously taught at Rutgers University in New Jersey and has exhibited widely in Austria, Canada, China, Germany, and the United States. His work is in private and public collections in North America and Europe, including the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto.
