Dr. Petrik is part of a collaborative research program to develop novel therapies for advanced stage ovarian cancer. He is an expert on tumor blood vessel formation and how manipulation of tumor vasculature is an important component to anti-cancer strategies. Petrik's lab evaluates the ability of tumor vascular normalization to enhance delivery of chemotherapy drugs, oncolytic viruses, and targeted immunotherapies to induce regression of advanced stage disease.
Additionally, Petrik is interested in factors that regulate ovarian function and those that are involved in the onset and development of reproductive disorders. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University and in Experimental Oncology in the Faculty of Medicine at Western University.
