Dr. Parmegiani has published on Italian literature and culture from the 18th century to the present, with a particular focus on Italian-English relations, Italian feminism, and the literary works of the contemporary Italian writer Claudio Magris. She teaches European film, the representation of crime in Italian cinema, and violence in 20th century Europe.
Parmegiani conducts research in digital humanities and has developed several experiential learning projects related to Italian heritage and immigration to Canada. She is interested in teaching innovation and has authored "In Italiano," a first-year Italian language manual with the Top Hat app. She is also the editor of "Quaderni d’Italianistica," the official journal of the Canadian Society for Italian Studies.
