Bio/Research

Dr. Ali’s main research interests are graphical Markov models and causal inference. In particular, she studies complex graph structures for directed acyclic graphs, possibly in the presence of latent or selection variables, and is interested in the problem of structure learning, or model selection in the absence of background knowledge. She also works on problems involving graphical models in diverse domains, including pollination ecology, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and animal sciences.
