Bio/Research
Dr. Bassim Abbassi is a Professor of Environmental Engineering with a Ph.D. from the University of Bremen, Germany. His research focuses on waste management, life cycle assessment for sustainable design, and wastewater treatment, with a specialization in decentralized and onsite wastewater systems. He is the Director of the Ontario Rural Wastewater Centre, Canada’s only dedicated facility for onsite and small-scale wastewater treatment. Recently, his research has expanded to the processing and valorization of waste streams from the dairy industry, recovery of valuable substances, and the application of electrokinetics as an advanced wastewater treatment approach.
