Bio/Research

The aim of Dr. Bridle's research program is to develop novel, highly targeted biotherapies for the treatment of cancers. In an effort to destroy malignant cells with minimal bystander damage to normal tissues, Bridle combines two approaches: 1) cancer immunotherapy, which directs the power of the immune system against tumours; and, 2) oncolytic virotherapy that utilizes viruses that replicate in and kill only cancerous cells. The exquisite specificity and systemic targeting capability of these two approaches holds promise that some day cancer patients might be effectively treated without the toxicities associated with many traditional therapies.
