Bio/Research

Marcia Chiasson is an aquaculture scientist who studies how fish grow, stay healthy, and respond to their environment. Her research focuses on fish physiology, genetics, nutrition, and the gut microbiome, with an emphasis on improving fish health and production while reducing the environmental impacts of aquaculture. As Manager of the Ontario Aquaculture Research Centre at the University of Guelph, she works with researchers, industry, and government partners to develop practical approaches to sustainable fish production. Her research includes rainbow trout, lake whitefish, and Arctic char.
