Dr. Irvine is the Director of the School of Languages and Literatures where she teaches in the French and European Studies programs. Her current research deals with the network of French women writers who created the Femina literary prize in 1904.

Bio/Research

Dr. Irvine is the Director of the School of Languages and Literatures where she teaches in the French and European Studies programs. Her current research deals with the network of French women writers who created the Femina literary prize in 1904.

She is the author of "Pour suivre un époux: les récits de voyage de couples au dix-neuvième siècle français" (Nota bene, 2008 ; Winner of the Canadian Association of University and College Professors of French Book Prize). With Karin Schwerdtner and Geneviève De Viveiros, she edited "Risques et regrets. Les dangers de l’écriture épistolaire" (Nota bene, 2015) and, with Frédérique Arroyas, she is co-founder and co-editor-in-chief of the journal "Nouvelle Revue Synergies Canada".

Irvine is also interested in international post-secondary mobility schemes and helped to bring the University of Guelph into the Erasmus-Mundus Masters “Crossways in Cultural Narratives.”
