Dr. Jo’s research primarily focuses on consumer behavior in the hospitality and tourism industry. Her work spans a diverse range of topics, including online booking decisions, loyalty program engagement, employee work-life balance and well-being, customer incivility and mindfulness, gender discrimination and deviant behavior in the workplace, as well as emotional intelligence among hotel managers. She has also explored areas such as culinary tourism, unfamiliar food choices, food truck purchasing behavior, virtual grocery shopping, destination image and tourist behavior, conspicuous consumption in travel, and perceptions of destination crowding.
Her research has been featured in leading hospitality and tourism journals, including the International Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, Annals of Tourism Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, and others.
