Bio/Research

Dr. Janaína Nazzari Gomes researches how people use and experience languages when they move to a new country and when they learn or teach a new language, especially French. Nazzari Gomes studies how Francophone immigrants and non-native French teachers navigate life and work in Canada’s bilingual environment, particularly in places where English is dominant. Nazzari Gomes is interested in questions like how people feel about their accents, how confident they are when speaking French, and how schools and communities can better support them. Nazzari Gomes also designs French courses that connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and community engagement.
