Bio/Research

Dr. Bailey is interested in both normal and aberrant brain development, and his long-term goal is to identify novel therapeutic strategies to mitigate the impact of specific developmental brain disorders. Current research focuses on the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, regions of the brain responsible for higher cognitive processes including attention. Alterations to the prefrontal cortex and in attention behaviour are observed in a number of neurodevelopmental disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and also following developmental exposure to drugs such as nicotine and alcohol.
